Merry Christmas from Ghana

Hey Everyone,

Yeah last week was crazy. We did some awesome work here. This week was kinda the same we taught tons of lessons. We have a few more baptisms scheduled for January 15th. Right now we have three of them. Aahhhh right now I can't think of anything. I can't remember the week it went by super fast and we played full field soccer. My brain is fried! It's been a long day. We travled pretty far. But it was fun the two zones up here in kumasi got together and played.

Haha ummm...our christmas party isn't until friday. But i bet it will be fun. I can't wait this week is going to be a fun week. Football, combine district meeting in town, christmas party, ward caroling and christmas. This week is packed.

So 8am is ok with me.  So i will call you at exactly 8. Ohhhh I can't wait to talk everyone.

I stiil have only gotten the one package. But I might have some tomorrow at district meeting. thank you though. I love them already.

So I can't think of anything else right now. I love you and I'll talk to you on sunday! Merry Christmas to Everyone!

We had 2 baptisms on Saturday

hey mom!
My week was great. We had our baptisms on Saturday. I got to baptize all six of the people there. Haha they called me John the Baptist. It went well all except that Sis. Grace was 50 min. late and we almost started without her. But, other wise it was good. I don't know what's different but me and Elder Francom are doing some work here. Elder Mortensen was an awesome missionary but we are doing better then ever. We are meeting so many people. It's so hard to go and see all of them. We taught 32 lessons this week. and had 2 baptisms. We have 2 more investigators with baptismal dates, and we're planning on a few others. So the work is going great. And I'm loving it here.
Oohhh I miss snow. I miss the cold. Its been really nice in the mornings lately. It feels really cool but then it gets really hot! Haha you and Kadyn can move to florda but I'm staying in Arizona I love the snow.
I found out a little bit from  Prez. Shulz, but the zone leaders are going to have a meeting and tell us what we need to do. but we can set a time.  So Elder Francom wants to call at around 11 so im thinking at 9 your time. Is that ok? ummm...i got 1 of your packages and your letter. What was the ATTENTION: Sister Shulz thing? I also got Jennies package. haha ummm dont send pepperoni! like the one we buy for pizza. It has to be the log one. Haha because it kinda exploded and the package was all oily. And the pepperoni was kinda moldy. But it's ok. I still got the awesome tie. It was safe. Thank you Jennie I LOVE YOU!
So how is Jaren doing in school? He better be doing better! and how are Kadyn and Carsen doing?
Well that is all I got for today. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've had a great week.

Hey Mom,
I'm doing great. We've had a great week. I got your package today. I still dont have Jennies but I think it will come next week. Thank you! Haha we kinda celebrated Thanksgiving. Me and Elder Francom ate the macaroni and cheese that you sent . But it was nothing like a thanksgiving dinner. It was just mac n' cheese and I didn't even like that to much at home. But it was still good.
I'm sorry to here about Aunt Nina. I really liked her, and I never had a problem going over and seeing her. I liked to.
I'm glad that grandma Joanne is feeling better. Did they ever figure out what was wrong or did she just start feeling better? I'm happy though thats great.
ummm...so the week has been good. Time's flying. We've found a few potential baptisms. The only thing is that all of them have some problem or another before they can be baptized. Most of them just have a marriage issue. They are just living with someone so we can baptize them. But their is this lady named Latisha. she's rich in ghanaian standards and she's awesome. She's really smart and she loves the church so we'll see where it goes from here. Training is nothing. I love it. Me and Elder Francom have become good friends so its easy to teach and be with him.
AHHHH!!!! I can't wait to call home! ummm...right now all I know is that were allowed to call home. There isnt really a set time limit. So I'm still trying to figure it out but were having a meeting on the 9th with the Prez. So i will make sure to find out more then. When does church end for you?

I know I didn't send one to Jaren  I was in the middle of writing it when my time ran out so its coming.
Don't send any shampoo. It's ok. I can buy something like it here. They don't really have any hair to wash but I will find something.;) and no I havent ordered any scriptures yet. Sometimes during christmas people send money to the distribution center so it will be cheaper so im going to order them sometime in the next 2 weeks.
To me it seems like I've only been here for a month and training makes it go by faster. If I got a new companion every 3 months I would be perfectly happy. It makes the time go by so much faster. and if I work it goes by faster. so I work as hard as I can so I can come home.
so i've got nothing else. tell everyone hello. I love you!

My new companion is Awesome

Hey Mom,

Happy Birthday to you too! Aahhh my birthday wasnt to exciting. I bought a 1.5 liter of coke and some ice cream but that's about it. Haha you got a gun? That's awesome;) I'm sorry about kadyn I hope she's feeling better. Tell Jaren to move it. He's supposed to be doing better.

So, I am doing good. I am so tired though its like I cant keep up on sleep. But I guess it will be like this for the rest of my mission so I better get used to it. I haven't gotten your package or Jennie's yet. We didn't have an activity today so I didn't see anyone to get mail. But I might get it tomorrow.  But thank you! Tell Jennie I love it already. I love all packages. My new companion is awesome. Haha guess what? He lives right across the street from Elder Mortensen. Is that crazy or what? His name is Elder Francom, and he's really tall. 6' 6"! I feel so short walking with him. We get along great. We both like a lot of the same things so its easy. So far training isn't too bad. It's hard work but not overwhelming. We've walked around a lot and have meet a lot of new people. Right now w are teaching this lady named Latisha and hopefully she will be baptized. Right now were planning for the 1st of the year. She has some problems that we need to fix first.
Don't talk to me about Thanksgiving! I get fried rice for my Thanksgiving meal. I hope its good and that you don't eat too much!
We listened to the last session of general conference, and it was awesome. President Monson was so happy. He looked awesome and that's the most jokes that I have ever heard from him. It was so cool.  We are going to watch the rest of them for our district meetings.
Hey guess what. I sent the letters!!! Yeah I used my own money to go to town and send them. So they're on their way. So you can stop bugging me now. ok?;)
I've got nothing else but I will next week so... i love you. Talk to you later.

We had a baptism!!!

Hey mom,
Everything is good. Today we dropped off Elder Mortensen. Haha He was happy to go home. So guess what? We had a baptism on the 12th! His name is Samson. I don't remember if i said anything about him but he's awesome. He's going to be an awesome member. I got to preform the baptism and we confirmed him on Sunday.  Oohhhh I can't wait to meet my trainee on Wednesday.  I'm excited but really scared at the ame time. It's going to be fun. So right now I'm in a three elder group with Elder Gibson and Elder Sesay. Gibson is going to Cape Coast to be a zone leader and Sesay is staying and he's also training. I don't know how I feel about that one, but we'll see what happens.
I got the crate! Thank you it was awesome. There was a lot of stuff in it. Right now me and my apartment are enjoying.
Tell Jaren I'im rooting for him and that he better do good. Haha when is madrigal? I'm glad that I'm not there for that. I hope kadyn and Carsen are having fun. and yeah Jessica emailed me saying that she sent something sooo....we'll see. I got grandmas letter today, and yes I've written grandma's letter. But they've changed our p day schedule. When the 70 guy came he didn't like some of the things we were doing so they changed it a little. So now I can only send letters once a month unless I send it by pouch. But that's a lot slower then just regular mail and all my letters are more then one page.
Teaching is ok. I'm getting better at explaining things, so that they understand. but we still arent getting much help. We still haven't found Grace I don't know if she will ever come back.
Sooo I don't have much else. But in my next letter I will.  I'll tell you about my new companion. But for now thats it. I love you!

I got a call from Prez Shulz. I'm training!!

Hey Mom,
I'm really sorry that I wasn't able to send an email yesterday. We had our normal p day and then we went to the cafe to email but on our walk there the power went out.  We waited for almost an hour and a half but it didn't come on and I had a meeting to go to.
Guess what? I got a call from Prez Shulz on Saturday. I'm training! We had a trainers meeting last night that I had to go to so I wasn't able to email. Haha I'm so excited but scared at the same time. I don't feel very ready to train a new missionary. We didn't find anything out out on who were getting yet but I know that I'm staying in Abuakwa. Tha'ts a very good thing, at least I know the people here and I don't have to start a new place.
So this crate has kinda disappeared. the Prez doesn't know anything about it, and no one knows where it is. Nothing was ever said to the President. So it's not here so I don't know when I'm getting it.  It would probably be a good thing to tell the family that sent it to call and explain whats going on to the president.
The district meeting went well they were just explaining how we should make our goals. But the pizza, we have to walk about 20 min to get there and when we did they didn't have any cheese but it was ok we went last night after our meeting. Haha and for Ghana it was good pizza. It was like a really crappy frozen pizza at home.
Haha hey I just got your email. Yes I know I need to write them. I'm working on it. Do you know how hard it is to find time to write a letter. I have Grandma Kathy's done I'm working on Grandma Sandys and Jennie's and I just got a letter from Markie. (don't worry family's first) so a lot of letters and then I have to find the time that I go to town and send them. But don't worry I'm working on it.
But I thank you for the packages they help a lot. Ooohhh and a smushed poptart is still a good poptart.
Aahhhh!!! I wish it would snow here its getting so much hotter. It's going to be a hard 2 years wthout snow or a real christmas. The money  is probably the best thing to do. I don't know what else to do. I don't think I need anymore pills right now but I will need shampoo soon but I dont know how well it will travel. But if you do send some send the best smelling stuff you can find, like old spice aqua reef shampoo. It has to be something strong or it doesn't feel like it does anything.
So it sounds like everyone is having fun. I hope they are doing well.
So I guess I gotta go. Tell everyone I love them!

My weeks are blurring together and moving so fast

Hey Mom,

Everything is gooing good. To be honest I don't remember much, the weeks are kinda blurring together and are moving really fast. We've started teaching some new people. I don't know if any of them a very serious about it but we'll find out. Yesterday the missionaries taught the elders quorum and relief society. We taught them on giving referrals. We don't get very much help from our branch. They won't give us any names of friends or family so we can teach them. And the people who do have kinda dried up and can't help us very much any more. The work here would go a lot better if the members would help.

Elder Mortensen is doing just fine. He can't wait to get home. It's not distracting him any. But when were sitting in the apartment talking its usually about what he's going to do at home. I just keep thinking that I still have 21 months until I get to that point.

Haha happy halloween!!! for you. We don't have halloween here. So it's just a normal day. But I hope that Kadyn and Carsen have a good halloween.

That's all right about the scriptures. I will just order a pair. So a couple of p days ago me and Elder Mortensen went with our senior couple missionaries the Zolls and played golf.  Yeah thats right, my first time actually playing on a golf course and its in Africa!  So thats what I took out the money for. I had to replace the subsistence money that I used. I also to out some money today. Tomorrow after our disrict meeting were going to get pizza! and i like to have a little extra with me. The rest of the time I had been using the plane money that you gave me. So it lasts for a while. I haven't bought to many things so it won't go anywhere fast.

Haha yeah its crazy that were all getting so old now. except you, how old are you now? 25? I can't remember. I don't feel almost twenty and Jaren shouldn't be driving. but its cool. I'm glad Jaren is doing better in school. Let's hope it keeps working.

I stll haven't gotten the package. AHHHH! I want it. It's still in cape coast. I hope they bring it up soon. ummm....i dont know what to do for Christmas. I'm fine with anything. I'll be happy with just some awesome christmas candy. Food. I don't really need anything. I dont know. By the way if you send any chewy candy like starbursts put them in a zip lock. Haha Jennie sent some but the humidity got to them and they were really sticky. Good but sticky. and yes I decided not to buy the washing machine. I can do without.

Elder Gaverett was cool. It didn't feel any different then meeting some one on the street but its a cool experience. He just asked me how long I had been out and about home. It was a normal interview.

Well ok I don't have anything else for now. I love you and miss you.

Doing Fine. I don't have any problems, so it is all good.

Hey mom.

Sorry that I didnt write to you yesterday! They changed our p day for the day. A member of the quorum of the seventy came yesterday.  His name is Elder Gaverett. he was on a mission tour here in GIhana and he wanted to meet with us. It was cool. When we got to the meeting Prez. Shulz called me over and said that Elder Gaverett wanted to meet with some of the elders. So I went and had an interview with him. It was a neat experience. But today is our p day, and thats my excuse for not writing.

I haven't gotten the package yet. Elder Larsen said that they were in though. They just have to bring them up from Cape Coast. I got Jennie's stuff. Thank her loads for me. Shes awesome! and I think of her as more of an older sister too shes not really my aunt. But i do owe her big. She's helped me a lot.

Ok so the blue set of scriptures. My red ones some of the pages are falling out of them and I was really stupid in the way I marked some of the scriptures. We have our investigators read out of them a lot and some of them I marked to where its hard to read. So it would really help to have another set. But if you don't want to send them I can order a pair from the distribution center. I think that a set like I have now are 63 cedis. So I can order a pair here. but I need something else, regardless. So send my scriptures if thats better or tell me to order some in my next e mail.

I've been thinking about the washing machine and I dont think im going to get it. its a nice thing to have but I don't think its something I need. I will just wash my clothes the old fashioned way.

So nothing to exciting happening here right now. We still haven't found Grace but oh well. There are a few other people that are working towards baptism but I'im not saying anything right now, I'm not going to jinx it again.

So I'm doing fine. I don't have any problems so it all good. I love you!

Hey Mom.

Dad is right. He's right most of the time but not always;). I'm starting to really like it here. I like the people a lot more and the food. I love fu fu now. It is my favorite thing to eat. We've done a few service projects. There is a guy in our branch that is building a house and we helped him move the dirt for his floors into his house, and we have fetched water for this other lady in our ward that cant get it her self.

I don't know how I feel about being a trainer. I still feel like I'm following Elder Mortensen a lot. When I was in the MTC I was the leader of our companionship so I think that when I'm put into that position I will do good. I just don't feel like I've been out long enough. But i'ts not a set thing yet I could still just get another companion. So we'll see.

I hope that Jaren does better with the computer school. I'm glad to here about Kadyn and Carsen. I think they will do better then me and Jaren combined will ever do. Kadyn really loves those books. I'm glad, they are really good books.

Haha I got the guitar tabs, but they are hard to figure out. At home I could listen to a song to figure it out but not here. But they will be fun. I still haven't received that package so I hope that it will get here soon.

Haha my shoes are doing good. They will last me for a long time.  I dont think that I will have any problems with them. But I do need some things. So first that whole tie bleeding thing doesn't happen so if you could send some of my old ties that would be nice. I feel like I wear the same thing everyday because I only have 5 ties. You're really going to hate me but my scriptures the blue ones with my name on them. I need them. I didn't have enough room in my bags for them but I need them. Sorry! I need an answer on the washing machine thing. Mortensen needs the money soon or he's going to sell it to someone else. I think that I can get him down to 120 cedis. It would be awesome if you could send some food spices here. They don't have much. But like oregano, cinnamon, I make a lot of french toast, pepper just stuff like that. And candy! But that's it. And by the way I want you to make a list of all the stuff you send me or how much the packages cost. i feel bad that your paying for most of my mission and all this extra stuff. I want to pay you back.

Prez. and Sis. Shulz are awesome.  They do a lot for us and really do treat us like their kids. I love them. lder Mortensen goes home on the 15th of November. I'm his last companion. P days are good. We either play soccer or american football. Mortensen plays with us. He didn't play in school he did track but he's good. So its good. Our p days most of the time are more tiring then normal days. We go to football then we go to town to get the stuff we need. We walk a lot and carry a lot of stuff. There is one other companionship in our apartment. Elder Gibson and Elder Sesay. Elder Gibson's really cool he's from Enoch Utah and we're good friends now. Elder Sesay is from Sierra Leon. He's ok he likes to break rules though.

We haven't been able to see Grace in two weeks. We don't know where she went. We are hoping she comes back. But we are teaching a couple other people that are moving towards  baptism. But I'm not going to jinx it by saying they will.

I can't wait until christmas. I don't know much on how it works. Just that we are given a call card and that we call that night. Mortensen said that we can talk for an hour or two they don't really have a set rule. But when I find out more I will tell you.

So I guess I will talk to you next week. I miss you and I love you!

I'm Starting to LOVE the people and really care about them.

Hey Mom and Dad,

Hey everything is going better. ummm... I dont have much going on right now. We are only teaching about 2 lessons a day right now and we were teaching 5 or 6. We had to drop a lot of of our investigators just because they weren't keeping their promises. So right now we're just trying to find people to teach. We had to push all of our baptisms back to Nov. 6th. Grace got a job for the rest of the month helping some lady with her pregnancy and the others need more time, but we are trying. Kennedy came to church yesterday but we haven't met with him in over a week. We told him to call us when he is ready to hear from us, but he hasent called yet.

So Jaren's not in school anymore. Wow...hows that going? I hope he's doing better. And its good that he can still do his sports and seminary.

Haha you are hoping that it doesn't snow and im wishing that it would. Its sooooo hot here and its only getting hotter. But we have been getting rain the last couple of days and if you think that the lightning and thunder is cool in the canyon you should see Africa. It is so bright and so loud here. It's ridiculous.

I'm starting to like it a lot more here. At first I didnt like it very much. You know me. I don't like change very much and this was a big change. Thank you for the advice. I am starting to love the people more and  found that it is a lot easier to teach them when you really care about them. I was having a bad time. Haha funny how you can still pick that out. But I'm doing exactly what you said. I'm burying myself in the work. I'm going real deep.

I love you too dad. You are probably the best thing that ever happened in my life. I just didn't notice it.Iif it wasn't for you I know that I would probably be in jail right now and not on my mission. I'm am where I am supposed to be right now and I know it and I feel it. You set the example for me and I wanted to follow. And because I did I feel like I'm doing the best thing that I could possibly do right now.

So nothing too new. Except that I think I might be training after Elder Mortensen goes home. The Mission President talked to me about it and there are 30 new missionaries in the next group so its a very good possibility.  But nothing else.

So I will talk to you next week. I love you!

We have a Baptism scheduled and I am working harder than ever and it feels good

Hey Mom,

Hey sorry if this gets to you late. We went to Kamasi today to buy some things and while we were gone the power went out. But it just came back so we ran to the cafe real fast so that we could get out our e-mails.

Yeah the week has been better. ummm We still dont know what to do with Kennedy right now we kinda backed off to see how bad he want to be part of the chuch. We are just waiting for him to call us or to come to chuch again. But! We have another baptism! That girl named Grace that I talked about she's about 23 and we were teaching Atta and she joined the lesson, so we started to teach her. She is one of those people that does not know that they are members. After our first lesson she went to the institute class, shes came to church three times and sang with the relief socity in Sacrament. All within 3 or 4 lessons. So we have a for sure baptism for the 16th of October. That's the best thing thats happened yet. We are getting ready to drop Richard he just wants to learn from us and doesnt want to leave his church at all. But at least we planted a seed hopefully it will grow.

That's awesome about the temples that were announced to be built in Africa. We didn't get to watch Confrence. They don't broadcast it here. But I guess that we get a dvd in about a month with the sessions on it and we will watch it later. We also get the liahona every month so we don't need the ensign. We will get it later.

I LOVED the package! Holy cow the flag was amazing and the jelly beans. Ohhh the jelly beans! Those were perfect. The whole thing was perfect. Thank you! I got grandmas stuff also, so tell Grandma Kathy thank you for the candy also. She is awesome. I'm sending her a letter but tell her thank you.

I got two letters from Grandma Sandy. She sounded unsure of what I am doing but  I'm writing a letter to her. I just got a lot of letters so I'm sending most of them next Monday. I'll make sure to tell her exactly what I'm doing and bear my testimony to her. I want her to understand what Im doing and why I'm doing it.

Haha I wish we cold watch some of those chuch movies. They would make me smile a lot more. And laugh about the stupid things we also do here and how we must look to eveyone else. I am doing my best to be that missionary. I am working harder then ever in my life and it feels good to do it.

Ok well I guess I gotta go. I love you!

Staying so Busy I don't know what day it is anymore

Hey mommy and family,

Well things weren't so bad this week. Most of the appointments that we've set up are being kept. All of the days are just running together I dont know what day it is any more or anything. It's hard to keep up on. Kennedy is doing good he has come to church the last couple of weeks and we have his baptism set up for the 16th of October. He is doing really well . We don't know about Richard. It kinda seems that he just wants to learn from us right now and he's not intrested in leaving his church. I don't know. We will just keep working with him untill we know for sure.

The guitar tabs are going to be nice.  I'm getting tired of the songs I know and Christmas tabs will be fun. I got your packages today.  They both seem ok but I haven't opened them yet. Thank you for the pictures I miss everyone and it will be nice to see you. Tell Jennie thanks for the pictures. I will make sure to send her a letter. She's awesome.

Haha yeah Twi isnt hard. I wish that we would spend another 3 weeks in the MTC to learn it. It would only take that long to learn. It is the easiest language ever. Some of the food is getting better. I'ive found more stuff that I like but a lot of it I still can't eat.

Ok to be honest every day is about the same. Nothing changes very much. We get up and walk  around for a while and try to find someone to teach. We go to a lesson. most of the lessons that we go to are the same in evey way. Almost eveyone we teach acts exactly the same way. They dont really have to much personality here. But we have started to teach this family. Him and his wife are named Atta and Ekua and their 5 kids. So we started to teach them then he brought his brother Francis and then his brother and another girl that is staying with them named Grace. So we are teachig this huge group of people and they are all saying that they want to be baptized and thats great. But we think that half of them just want money. Everyone in Ghana thinks that when they come to churh that we will give them money. Or build their house for them oe buy them stuff. So we are trying to fix that and it's working out well. They have all been to church 2 times so I think that they are starting to understand. But its going good.

Well that's all that I've got. I'm glad that I decided to come and I know that Ii am in the right place even if I don't like it all that much. But it's getting easier to be here and I'm likeing the people more. This time is going to be the best two years for my life.

So I will talk to you next week I love you.

This last week was Hard, a few Twi words and my Christmas wish list.

Hey,

Haha I would love to make Red Red at home but some of the stuff to make it with they dont have at home. Like red oil. It's illegal to have in the U.S.  Tell Jaren that I said that he needs to work harder.  I want to hear how he does in soccer but I can't if he's not playing.

This week was hard. It seemed that everyone that we tried to meet with bailed on us.  We set up 3 appointments with Kennedy this week and he didn't meet any of them. I don't know whats going on.  We met with Richard though and he understood everything. We talked about baptisms for the dead and temples. He even told us that we needed more temples so that the people in Africa can do temple work.  He's an awesome guy, I hope that he sticks around.

Elder Mortensen and I are getting along great.  We like a lot of the same things so its easy o talk with him. Haha we've gotten to know each other very well.  To me he is like a very cool Wyatt.  He kinda dressed the same and acted the same just not with all the bad stuff.  If I met him out side the mission I dont think we would be friends. but we are now.

So you want to know some Twi.  Ok heres some- say it just like its spelled.

etesen- how are you?
a-ye- im fine
yo-ok
ko-go
bra-come
abradum-crazy
dee-eat
pa-a lot
akwaba-welcome
bruni-white man
obruni-black man

That's all I got right now.

ummmm...Some of the kids are cute. their pretty funny. but when we're walking down the steet kids just yell, bruni, bruni, bruni, the whole time they even have a song that they sing. Those kids arnt so cute, but some of the kids are awesome.

I'll make sure to send some pictures. I need to take more while I'm out. Ii dont take many pictures there's not much to see here, and we don't do much but walk around.  But I'll do better and send some.

For christmas just put money on my card if I want something I'll just get it here they have cool stuff here. I don't want anything from home. Haha but I don't know if I told you but I haven't had to wash my clothes by hand yet. Elder Mortensen bought a washing machine when he got on his mission and it's in our apartment. He said that he's going to sell it for 150 cedis thats about 135 dollars when he goes. But then I never have to wash by hand and when I get transferd the APs bring it to the new apartment. That would be a great present and then when I go I'll sell it. But i'ts just an idea if that doesnt sound good then thats ok. The only time an apartment has a guitar is if someone else has one or you go and buy one but I'll be here for 2 more months and if I have tabs I can play somewhere else to.

That's great about the calling. I hope that your haveing fun and it's not to much. I think you will do a lot more for the boys then anyone else. That's good.

Ok well that's about it. I hope that everyone is doing ok. Please tell Grandma Kathy that I said thaink you for the help. And tell Grandma Joann that I hope she gets feeling better and that I'm praying for her. I love you. Tell everyone that I love them too. Bye

love,
Trevin

The work continues, I miss everyone and I can cook brownies on the Stove

I love sending emails. I miss you guys so much. Kennedy has three sons but only two are old enough to be baptized, but I don't know their exact age. Church is a little weird here. Our apartment is a guest house that a soccer team was living in so it's a big house. We live on one side of the house where the bedrooms and kitchen is but the other half is the chaple with the classrooms. I have pictures of it so you can see. We have bout 150 members in our branch but only about 100 are active. The classes and sacrament is all in Twi so I don't understand what they are talking about most of the time, so i dont pay attention much but whats new.;)
Thank you for sending everything I really appreciate it, and yes I will definetly need a new pair of shoes when I get home.

Yeah we went to zone confrence. They mostly talked about our appartments and clothes, and setting goals with our branch presidents. The best thing was the coke. I love coke so much now. It is the only drink here that satifies me, except a drink caled alvaro. It's like a pear cider but it comes in pinapple too. Coke is still better.
The ice cream is safe to eat it comes in a little vacumed sealed bag. You just have to make sure that the package is clean before you eat it. I dont buy much on the street, and if I do I watch them make it. I don't buy any meat. I've seen the slaughter houses and its not pretty. I buy egg sandwhiches and this stuff called red red thats really good. It's beans and fried plantains. i love fried plantains. They also have these things called ball floats. They are like big dougnuts. The only time I got close to being sick was the day after I got to my area. The night I got here we went out to get foo foo and that was disgusting. I felt like I was going to hrow up the next day, but I ate breakfast then I was fine. The mosquitos aren't to bad. I can't tell if the garlic is doing anything.

I have another food request. We have invented a way to cook brownies on the stove! You get a big pot and fll it with water and let it start boiling.  Then you get another pot, put the batter inside, and put that pot into he big pot with a lid on top. it works great! We tried it with a plastic bowl first. I told them not to. It worked perfectly, but then we were going to leave them for a couple more minutes but we forgot about them. All the water in the pot evaporated and the bowl melted in the pot. but brownie mix in a pot works! So thats a good idea for anyone who wants to send stuff.

We are teching a lot of people but the problem is that we drop them after a couple of visits because they won't do anything. Richard is doing good. He came to church yesterday but they had a lesson on baptisms for the dead and he was freaking out. He is a really smart guy but that is too big of a thing for someone to understand. So when we meet him tomorrow we are going to have to answer a lot of questions and explain whats going on.

That stinks for Jaren. Tell him to win a game for me maybe that will help;) I hope everyone else is doing ok. I haven't received any letters from anyone yet except from Markie. She sent the letter on the 19th and I sent her a letter today so we will see how long it takes.

Ok so I gotta go, tell eveyone that I love them and miss them a ton.

I love you,
Trevin

Teaching the gospel and learning to love to pray!

Hey Mom and family,

Things are going great here. We are teaching this guy named Kennedy and his 2 sons right now.  I think that they are the most progressive people that we have. We set up a date for baptism on the 2nd of October. I think that they will follow through with it. So many of the people that we teach here don't care. They say they will do things just so we will leave or they just want us to teach them, but they don't want to go to church. I know why dad hates liars so much. I know exactly how he feels. I get lied to everyday and about everything. Hey Jaren, Kadyn, and Carsen dont lie to mom and dad! We are also teaching this guy named Richard. He's a Seventh Day Adventist and wow it's different stuff,  but he is really interested.  I wish that I had learned a lot more about the other churches and what they do in their church. It's interesting stuff and it's easier to teach them when you know how they work.

I cant wait for the packedges and letters to get here. They said that it takes about 2 weeks to get mail from the U.S. to here, but it takes three weeks for it to get there. So tell eveyone to be patient and they will receive letters. I miss the food at home so much. If you tell anyone to send me something tell them to send food anything that will make it here without going bad.  And candy,  I want real candy not the crapy stuff they have here.  Haha they have ice cream here but its more of a vanilla shake in a bag, but its still good. Hey if you havent sent my shoes out yet don't send them. My shoes are getting destroyed and I can buy cheaper ones here, that will be better then messing up my good ones. So keep them at home for me or give them to Jaren that would be better then sending them here. If you have already thats fine I will still use them.

I really think that I'm going to come home way different then when I came. There are so many things that I won't put up with anymore.  Like our apartment was so dirty when I got here, now i'ts so clean.  I can't live in something so dirty. Thank you mom,  I think that was you.  I really want that flag it will be nice to have up on the wall.
I started reading the the Book of Mormon again when I got here too, and I noticed the same thing. I'm already to the Book of Ether and and have learned so much more. I also wish that I would have studied the Bible more. They teach us all about the Book of Mormon in church and stuff but I can't use that right now. Even in the MTC, they said to teach out of the Book of Mormon, but if they don't beleive in it you cant teach it. A lot of what is in the Bof M is also in the Bible. They understand when you teach it that way, but half the time I don't know where to find the stuff they need. Elder Mortensen knows a lot and can connect the scriptures perfectly.  I'm glad that he's my trainer and that I can learn from him.

Haha to be honest, I didn't pray all that much before I left but thats changed. We pray all the time. I have found that I feel better and my day goes better when I do. I pray for the whole family all the time and anyone that I consider family. I love to pray now.

Everything is going good here. I love you all and Thank you for the support.

I love you,
Trevin

Trevin has arrived in Abuakwa, his First area

Hey Mom,

Things are really good.. I'm glad that people have sent letters,  I can't wait to get them.  ummm... did you tell them to send them to the mission home? That's where they need to go.  I can receve emails from people but I would rather get letters. I can only send emails to you guys and if people send emails I wont be able to reply back.  Mondays are my p days so that is when you will get emails from me. :)

After the MTC I was sent to Abuakwa. it's right out side of Kumasi. I got here Wednesday and it has been really cool. My trainer/compaion is awesome. He is from Centerville, Utah. we get along really great. We like a lot of the same things.  My apartment is good too. We still have really cool showers but I have a washer so I don't have to do laundry by hand right now.  Guess what?  There is a guitar! haha its fun to just mess with when theirs nothing to do. Abuakwa is really dusty so when it rains it gets all muddy and it sucks. It doesn't smell too bad here only in some areas. There are tons of shops here. They call them chop bars,  a lot of the food we get is from them. Some of the places have really good food. haha I had foo foo the first day here. It was nasty and hard to eat. you dont' chew it. You just dip it in the soup and swollow.  It was so hard to get down the first time, and it was so gross but, Elder Mortensen said that that was the worst foo foo that he has had. So I hope that it gets better. That's my trainer by the way.

No the food is not getting better.  I have found a few things that I like here so I will eat that stuff until I get used to the food. The soda here is sooo good I love Coke now.  I only get one every couple of days but its really good.  They have this stuff called malt here and all the missionaries love it but it is soooo nasty. I'm hoping that its one of those things you need to get used too.

OK, well I will talk to you next Monday. Tell everyone that I said Hi and that I love them.

I love you,
Trev
