Helped work on construction of a school

hey mom,

im glad to hear that everything in austin is going great. low 80's for
october isnt bad huh? haha your making me excited to get home. so in
austin are their a lot of lds families. ha i know that its not like
arizona at all but i do hope that we arnt going to be the only familiy
in a big area. elder martin lives close to huston and he really likes
it but their arnt that many members. i hope that everything works out
for us;)

jaen is going to state wow! how did that happen? haha so they are
doing a whole lot better then i did huh? man i hope that they do well
and that they at least make it past the 1st or 2nd round.

so for me this week we had transfers. which we had a fun time dealing
with. haha one of the elders that was waiting for his time to leave
got sick at the station and we had to take him to the hospital. he is
fine now but he kinda scared us. he was throwing up everywhere. on
friday we had a lot of fun. one of the old return missionaries from
here and his family are helping to build a school in a village way out
past mankessim. so we got invited to go and help build it. it was
awesome their were 8 of us and we were digging some trenches for the
foundation. they were 3 foot deep. it was great to get away from
missionary work for a day and do some hard work. we all had a lot of
fun but now all of us are really sore. ha my back still hurts but it a
good kinda pain. i was just glad to get dirty and use my hands.

so this week saturday we have a mission tour. elder zitate from the
area 70 is comeing to see us. im pretty excited. this guy is pretty
powerful. but that is all that i have right now.

wish jaren luck for me and tell everyone that i say hi. im going to
send the letter to the seminary tomorrow so it should be there in a
few days. but thats all that i have. i love you!!! talk to you next
week.

Time is flying by so Fast

hey mom,

so yeah this week has been pretty good. we havent had any problems really. im still not remembering our weeks to well right now so please forgive me if this a little short. so i got another chance to go back to mankessim last friday. it was really cool. i got a chance to go and to teach some of my old investigators. 2 of them have a baptisimal date! a guy named Dickson and another lady named Ama. with the very little that i was able to leave in mankessim they have been doing very well in getting them to baptism. im just glad that the work that i did the last few months that i was their paid off. on saturday we got to got go to the mission home and give our transfer news again. me and saili are staying together but their are a lot of others moving again. right now me and 3 of my other mt's are zone leaders. elder kitchen and elder martin just got their calls. there are a lot of other changes in our zone that i dont really like but have to live with. elder inhekari is coming back to our zone. right now we have six people living in our apartment and they are going to take out 1 companionship and leave us with elder kebbie and 1 other stubborn missionary. haha you know what i think pres. is thinking? i think that hes thinking well adair has had some difficult companions in the past so let just put them back in his zone plus a couple. i think him and saili can handle all of them at once. haha the next few transfers are going to be exciting!

so yeah im excited about the money being raised. we need it a lot. im excited to eat really good. the past few week i havent been eating the best but only because everything is way expensive. but i will be able to do a lot better now.

man! so how many field goals did jaren get all together? he still did a lot better then any of the other kickers that the school has had in a long time. jaren your still the best man!

wow! go kadyn! were there a lot of people there? do you know which song she did? good job kadyn!

ohhhh yeah i've been meaning to write a letter to the seminary for along time. i just havent got to it but yeah i will make sure to do that soon. tell grandma Thank You!!! man i cant wait to get home and give her a huge hug. she has done a lot for me. i love her!

man i cant wait for next week so that i can know a little bit about what is going on. im tired of being lost and in the dark.;)

well ok i guess that that is all. i love you!!! talk to you next week!

hey mom,

wow! jaren is in the royalty! how did that happen? thats awesome though. i guess our family is full of good looking young boys and girls. :)

yeah yesterday we had a meeting with our bishop before church and he got the the text from our stake pres saying that they had changed the age for missions. that is sooooo cool. me and saili were freaking out. so is jaren going to prepare to go right after high school? that would be awesome. i was thinking about it last night it seems like everything that has happened to me so far in the past few years has been perfect timing. getting held back helped me a lot and i left i feel right when im supposed to and now they are allowing the 18 year olds to go. if they would have done it before i left it wouldnt have helped me at all but it will help jaren. i just thought it was cool. wow and another temple in az. arizona is really growing huh? we wont be able to see conference until the 4th of november but im hoping the the liahona will get here quick.

so for me there isnt to much new right now. the dr for our mission is really worried about us eating so they raised our allowance. that is really nice. it should have been done a while ago but we'll be good now. we were barely making it of what we got but now we will be able to eat a lot better. im happy=) ummm right now we have 2 people that are close to being baptized but they have some few issues that we need to get sorted out. but were hoping for the end of this month. one of them is this really smart lady named mary. we taught her the whole restoration in one lesson. haha that does not happen very often. usually it takes like 5 lessons to teach it and for them to understand it but shes pregnant and not married right now so we are just trying to help her. but she really wants to be baptized. the weeks are still going by really fast this past six weeks has moved. im about to start my 11th transfer out of 17. Crazy huh? i dont remember anything exciting really happening this week though.

THANK YOU!!! for the package i loved it. the pictures were amazing! everyone has gotten so much bigger its crazy. you and dad still look the same but the kids holy cow! jaren is getting bigger but i think that we are about the same hight right now. i have a pick of me and dad standing together and me and jaren are close. but jaren is gettin a little more thick. he will probably be a bit bigger then me when i get back but you have to take into account that im in AFRICA! and im just doing push-ups and sit-ups.;) you guys looked like you were having fun. and i think i know the real reason for you wanting to move to texas. your tired of the diamondbacks and are now a rangers fan and want to go and support them. right? so you will spend four days huh? that will be cool. tell me when you make a desision. and im still planning on doing firefighting so if you could look for a school that has the credits that i need for that and that the marines will sponsor me going to that would be great. just take that into consideration when you go and dont tell me if you find anything i dont want to think to much about it right now.

well alright i guees that i will talk to you later. i love you!!!

hey mom,

so this week was cool. i dont remember anything the weeks feel like days right now its amazing. all i can remember is that we went on splits twice this week again. i love splits! (sarcasim) but they do make the week go by a lot faster. i had to go to yamoransa to do a baptisimal interview. it was pretty cool i got a chance to be with my old mtc companion elder ighama. he is the district leader in yamoransa. he has changed a lot since the mtc. we had a good time. we had our baptism on saturday. it went well. saturday was really crazy. they had a funeral at the chaple in the morning. and their funerals arnt like the ones that we have at home. they are really loud. then we had our baptism and then there was a wedding at the chapel. again their weddings are really loud. and yamoransas church building ran out of water so they had to come and have their baptism at our chapel during the wedding reception. the spirit wasnt there at all.

yeah its october! im going crazy right now. if time keeps going this fast im going to be done in no time. i dont really know if that is a good thing or not. i dont want to wish way the last months of my mission i like the work that we are doing here and its only a short time that i will never get back but im still excited.

thank you for the package!!! i cant wait for the pictures thanks. i will make sure to send home some pictures soon also. i dont really want anything for christmas. i just really want christmas to come and go. i dont like spending christmas here. but you could give me an allowence for christmas. im planning on getting something really cool. and its one of the few things that i will bring home. but its a painting of ghana. and in it will be a tone of scenes that you will only see in ghana. haha kinda picture a wheres waldo picture but of ghana. it will be custom painted and will be like 200 cedis so by christmas time thats like $100. but thats it, and some of your awesome christmas baking;) let me know if thats ok.

hmmm checking out austin. how exciting;) i hope that that goes good. i really want a set decision i want to know whats happening. haha and its even worse not being home to see anything Ahhhh. how long are you planning on staying ove there? i want to start college when i get home i just havent figured out how im going to do it yet. i need to check on some things but i guess i will just have to wait and find out when i get home.

the election is comming up huh? wow the big day is comming fast. we will see what the futur of the country is in a few months. haha you know that its you and dads fault that im going stur crazy over here with no information. you and glenn beck got be hooked but i dont know whats going on anymore! i pray every night that the lord will help our people see that obama is hurting us and that we need someone that will help build and up lift the country. i just cant wait until this thing is all over.

well alright i guess that im going to go. i love you guys so much! talk to you next week.

hey mom,

so the confrence was good. we had a lot of really good talks. sis shulz talked about music. they came out with some new rules for music. its anything church sponsored that is uplifting and inspirational. no more just mo tab! prez shulz talked on repentance and how we can better help our investigators understand what real repentance is. it was a really cool he went very far into repentance. it helped me understand a lot more on what true repentance is. the rest of the week went by really fast. we had a really bad day the other day. we went on splits the other day and i was in our area with another missionary. but we only taught 1 lesson the whole day. people were not home! even the members werent home. it wasnt the best day on mission but it also wasnt the worst day either. our baptism looks good. i don think that we will have any problem with getting them ready.

everything sounds cool at home. congratulate jaren for me sorry you arnt feeling well. hope you feel better soon. i'll make sure to write to carsen today.

wow duskin gets home in november! he didnt leave that long ago. hahaha yeah i heard that when people go to places like that they have a hard time coming home and speaking english. i am going to have to re learn all my math again, we dont use it here its all gone and i have to take more math classes in college.

well i dont know much more to say so i guess i will talk to you later. i love you!!!

hey mom,

yeah i've seen pres. and sis shulz a lot more lately and she has taken a lot of pictures. i was hoping that at leas one would go up. but yeah im happy. i have been having a lot of fun doing a lot of work and keeping busy with all of the things going on. but the transfers went well. it was a lot more then 17 missionaries though those were only the new guys. we moved 32 missionaries around and made sure that their companions were their to meet them. but it went well we only had a few problems with the moves. just miss communication problems. the rest of the week went by really fast. we went to mankessim again this week. their is a guy from takoradi in my area with his new missionary and they didnt know here to start so i got to go back and show him to a lot of the members and the investigators that i left behind. it was really cool. i think that they will do well in mankessim. ha its always good to know that your old area has a good set of missionaries to take over. on friday we had zone leader conference. i was cool. we talked about the goals that our zones had set and how they were doing. sis shulz talked about being an example to others. she said that the tings we do no matter how big or small will trickle down to those other missionaries in our zone. so we need to be the example. ummm right now inour area we have found a lot of really cool people to teach. when i first came we had like four people now we have a lot. im really excited about the people that we are teaching now. we are planning on a baptism on the 29th of this month. but they still need to come to church a few times so we will see. bt yeah we had a cool week this week. next week we have our mission confrence. in the picture that they put up on the blog look for bright pink and blue ties. thats my zone. their is a lot that is happening this month september is going to be over in no time.

wow dad got a new calling? hhmm thats a surprise. haha arnt the kids always onry? how is school going for them. how does kadyn like middle school? ha what about jaren? is he doing well?

haha you hate the rainy season and i love it! the season is ending here and its starting to get hot again. im not excited for it to get hot again.

yeah i got you letter and the stamps. i also got the last package you sent. it was awesome thanks! id like the hair and body but it deosnt matter if its old spice. its kind of expensive. but with your package if you can i still want pictures. of your trip, of home i want to see RV again, some of the things that the kids are doing, just stuff.

so yeah thats about it. i will keep a eye out for ryans email. tell everyone hello for me. i love you guys! Your the best!

hey mom,

man i wish could have been at the baptism. heybut maybe i will gt to
be there when they go through the temple. i bet it was a really
powerful baptism.

haha yeah they have it real good dont they? but i still have it
better. haha dont take this wrong but i really really dislike living
here but ghana is the best place to be on a mission. i would rather
suffer here and bring a ton of peole into the gospel then be in the
states living great in suffer while doing the work.

so this week was prety good. we had interviews on friday. that went
good he just asked how i was doing and said that he expects a lot from
me. we got transfer news on saturday. the cape coast zone leaders are
the ones that have to cordinate everyones movements. pres put a lot of
pressure on us for that one also. there are a ton of people moving
this transfer and we have 17 new missionaries. it seems like everyone
is getting moved around. me and saili sat down for an hour or 2 trying
to organize all of the chaos that is going to happen. so well see how
it all works out.
yesterday we had a girl from washington state come to church with a
referal. shes here doing service, helping to build a school in
takoradi. the guy that she brought was really cool. and he seems
really intrested but it could be that he just wanted to do it for the
bruni girl so we'll see. but it was cool to talk to someone from home.
but thats all of the exciting things for this week.

my companion is great. haha elder saili is just another american.
american samoa is just like the U.S. just an island. but he talks to
his family. he has a sister serving in the temple square mission right
now. he gets letters from her a lot too. she is actualy in the last
general confrence leahona.

well my shoes are doing suprisingly well. i was looking at them the
other day. i think its because i hvent had the greatest of companions
the last 7 months and i was ridding a bike instead of walking. my
socks are starting to get a little thin but they will be ok for a few
more months. the only thing i can think of is body wash and i need
pens. a pack of uni-ball pens perferably but thats it. but you just
sent a package so dont send them now wait a week or 2 please!

haha what else did you expect sis shulz to say. hes a spitball fire
ball with a temper;) i talked with her a lot on friday. we just talked
about you guys and her family. haha she said that she has a 15 yr. old
grandaughter that she wants to hook jaren up with;0 after mission of
course!

ha o well i gess i better go. i love you!!!

hey mom,

wow go jaren! how is he doing? is he just dead all the time? hes got a lot of things going on. how often does he work now that hes in school and has practice? haha wow. thats so cool i wish i was able to see him play. haha do you think he will do it again?

woop woop! octavio is getting baptized! i bet jennies excited to get them all into the church. i hope that all goes well and that they dont have any problems. ha but i guess their not in ghana so they wont run into to much trouble.;)

so everything here is going great. i love cape and i dont have any problems with my companion. so were ok. um this week i didnt spend too much time in my own area. we went on splits twice this week. once with cape coast 2 and once with bakaano. they both had baptismal interviews that i got the opportunity to do. so i got to interview 7 candidates this week. they were all awesome people. its really cool being able to see missionary work on a bigger scale. instead of seeing just my area i get to see everyones and how they are moving the work along. our ward had ward confrence yesterday. it was cool. me and elder saili got to sing in the choir for the special number. their were no other guys that would sing for it. it was just us.

thanks for the package. i love you! so i just called sis. shulz. she said something was wrong with the site so she had to change it. but i gave her your email so she will send the site to you.

ok well i dont have anything else either so i guess i will talk to you next week. i love you!!!

hey mom,

so i got transfer news on saturday. im not going anywhere and im
staying with my companion. i have another 9 weeks with this guy.
wait... sorry that was last transfer. ;) guess what im going to cape
coast! rogers was right. i got a call on saturday from prez. shulz and
he asked me to be a zone leader in cape. my new companion is elder
sieli. hes from american samoa. ive known sieli pretty much my whole
mission. hes a really cool guy i think that i will have a lot of fun
with him. me and my companion are both leaving though. hes going to be
in swedru. so in mankessim there will only be 2 elders for a little
while. haha in they will still be in my zone so if i come on splits
here i will still be able to see some of my investigators and members.
but i really dont remember the rest of the week it went by to fast and
after i got the call it all just kinda got erased. im excited to go to
cape but im kinda nervous too. i dont feel ready to be a zone leader.
i skipped being a district leader and went straight. prez hasnt done
that while ive been here. he usually puts you as a district leader
for at least a transfer. sieli is going to have to teach me well. but
i guess if pres. thinks im reeady then i guess i am. i just have to do
my best.

yes! go jennie! is it everyone? octavio and andrew? wow thats
exciting. prayer and fasting really does work huh? tell her congrats
for me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARSEN!!! happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR CARSEN!!! happy birthday to you! shoot everyone is
getting older. even those pics that you sent last time i could see
everyone growing. eveyone is going to look so different when i get
home.

jury duty? wow thats a nasty case to be a part of. im glad that
something will happen to him.

schools starting already. i thought it just ended. that was fast. does
the middle school have a dance class? the cheerleaders arnt the best
people in rv. but the dance club is sweet. they have a lot more fun
and do a lot more things. haha sorry mom i knoww you dont need more;)

so moving from Round Valley. well mom that one is up to you and dad.
for me im just coming home to my family no matter where you are. and
your right. if i came home their isnt any colleges close by. i will
need something. if your in az i will have to go to the valley there
are colleges and jobs that will help me pay for it. but then i also
leave the family right when i get home. i love arizona but do what you
think is good for the family i support you in whatever you decide.
heck move to alaska i dont care haha i'll just follow you around;)

yeah so it been a good week for us both. but i guess i'll go. i dont
have anything else. i love you! you guys are AWESOME!!!

hey mom!

so cape coast is awesome i love it here. me and elder saili are having
a lot of fun here. we dont have many people to teach right now but we
are working on it. elder rogers and saili baptized most of the
investigators that they had right before i got here. so were just
walking around cape talking to people. being a zone leader isnt any
different then being a normal missionary really. you just have a lot
more things that you have to do and you have to fix everyones
problems. but i like it. cape coast has 2 wards here. we're in 1st
ward. haha this is the first ward that i have been in so far. we have
a lot of awesome members here. on saturday we had an all africa
sercice project that i met a lot of the members at. their is a lot of
youth here that help us so we are doing good.

im excited for jennie and her family. it will be cool to see how much
they have grown in the gospel in a year.

haha i thought that you would've gone nuts a while ago. im surprised
that you have lasted this long in the cabin. i do feel good about
going to texas. it seems right.

its so cool to hear others leaving on their mission. it seems like
eveyone will be gone that i know. i can only think of a few guys that
havent left yet or arnt planning on going.

yeah i got jennies package 2 days ago. THANKS JENNIE!!! in the package
you send can you send some candy. im a little sugar deprived and ate
her package in like 2 days;) and the tie she sent was sweet. its one
of my favorites. and yeah i got your package and carsens letter thank
you again!

well ok i guess im gonna go so that i can write to everyone. i love you!!!

hey mom,

ONE YEAR!!! holy cow i cant believe it has been that long it doesnt
feel like it. i havent heard anything on transfers yet. the other
night pres. called me. he wanted to know what was going on. all i know
is that me or my companion is going somewhere but we wont find out
until saterday. elder rogers is leaving next week and hes dead set on
me going to cape to be the new zone leader. but i dont think that that
is going to happen. it is supposed to be a small transfer. not to many
changes so we'll see what happens. haha for our year mark me and
martin made ourselves sick on junk. ha we thought that we could eat a
lot more then did. we were miserable.

my week was ok just a normal mission week. i did go on splits on
friday in cape with elder rogers. it was really nice to get away from
my companion. we had a few crazy things happen. i now have a huge
testimony of the power of satan. we were teaching a lesson and bearing
witness of the book of mormon and so many things happened during that
one lesson. their were a lot of distractions the whole time and once
we gave him the book he looked at it and said ''i dont think that my
parents will let me keep this.'' haha and what do you know right after
he said this his mom comes walking down the street and sees us. she
took the book of mormon and told us that we werent allowed to see her
son. this kid was 23 years old and isnt living in their house. why did
she come walking up the street right then?!?!

im praying for jennies family also. i want to see them in the church.
haha andrew kinda reminds me of jaren. not really knowing what he
wants.

hey and yeah i did get ruthies packages last tuesday. but i only got 2
out of 3. thank her for me the clif bars she sent were amazing. haha
and mom i crave EVERYTHING! but right now i cant think of anything
that i really need.

being a year is kinda like having your birthday. its really exciting
before it comes and after it does nothing has changed. i still feel
like i am only a few moths old. the best part of being a year is
seeing the old men go home. elder rogers and elder briggs my old zone
leaders are going home and its crazy. pretty soon my mt group is going
to be one of the oldest on mission. their are 18 missionaries ahead of
us but 7 of those go home in the next 3 or 4 transfers. that just
makes me want to do better. at some point in the next few transfers i
might be called to do something and if im not doing my best i dont
want that.

tell danny i said hi also. i could see that happening to danny a
couple of my mts were big guys when they came and now their not to
big. i hope its the opposite for me.

well i dont have anything else so i guess i will talk to you later. i
love you!!!

hey mom,

hope you guys have fun at glenns thing without me! haha so im doing
good. not much has changed here. but we did have our baptism on
saturday. we only had 2 of the 5 planned come. the end of this week
has been to stressful im beat right now. we had a problem with getting
peple to the inteviews and then we had problems getting people too the
church so it wasnt the best week. i didnt see prez at all he just told
me to keep writing him letter keeping him updated on how we are doing.
right now it just settled down. we havent had our companionship study
in like 2 weeks so its been difficult keeping on the same page. he
just likes his bed so much that he wants to stay in it until we have
to go to our appointments in the morning. haha and i cant drag him out
of bed anymore. i really need a transfer. nothing is happening to us
yet only that elder martin and elder baird got an emergency transfer.
martin is getting a problem companion to try and straighten out. so we
get to add more problems to the apartment so this week is going to be
fun;) transfers are in three weeks and i cant wait to see what
happens.

i got your package already it came really fast. thank you!!! those
drink mixes were awesome.

wow thats crazy danny shouldnt be home yet. its crazy how time flies.

i would love more pictures by the way thats a great idea.

ok well i dont have anything else that i can think of. i hope you have
a great week. i love you!!!

Email from July 16

hey mom,
so this week was good. it was a really fast week. we didnt meet with
prez shulz on tuesday it looked like he was having other more serious
problems then ours so he was busy. so right now i dont have any new
news. all that i know right now is tha this is supposed to be the last
week of the transfer but i still have three weeks. but this transfer
should be really exciting. there should be a lot of new changes this
transfer.
man a week at sun splash sounds really good right now. i need to get
rid of my tie and collar tan.
im glad that jennies family is doing good. im sure that they will all
know the truth in time. i dont think that its as easy in the u.s. as
it is here. here they just except it they dont really fight against it
to much. but i think people in the states will think about it a lot
more. haha but i know how jennie feels it is hard to be patient when
someone just isnt understanding. tell her its ok. just let him read it
and pray about it himself. that is the only way that he will know its
true. by himself.
so right now we are planning on a baptism for this saturday. we are
supposed to have 5 people but we will see what happens. we are finding
some new investigators right now but we dont have anyone really
serious right now. some are showing interest and some are not serious
at all. but we'll find some good people soon. but other then those
things nothing really exciting happening. its just the normal mission
stuff.
tell grandma thank you i will make sure to write her this evening. its
been a while since i sent her anything. and thank you for the stuff
again it is very much appreciated.
well i dont really have anything else but i love you very very much
you guys are awesome and knowing that i have your love and support
helps me everyday. i love you!!!

hey mom,
haha so yeah ummmm.... we didnt have any of our baptisms this week. ha
this week has been something else. first we had a problem get the
district leader to come to mankessim to interview our candidates and
then when he did come we olny got 3 of them interviewed. so we were
one short. and then i was calling the other elders to fill up the
fount in yamoransa and they had no water so i called our ZL in cape
and there fount was being r tiled. but the ola elders had a baptism
scheduled for sat also in ola so we tried to get in with them but then
the cancelled their baptism. so we decided to cancel it. so right now
we are looking for a date. but we are going to have 5 baptisms with
our next baptism whenever that is.
the rest of the week was ok. we got our phone chips. so we all have
new numbers and were trying to figure everyone's numbers. me and my
companion are just going. prez. said that he wanted to talk to us on
tuesday so we will see what happens. im pretty sure that we will not
be together next transfer.
thanks for getting that for me. i got elder mortensens old guitar. he
gave it to his first son elder rosquist and he gave it to his brother!
ME! to its just being passed through the family. but the only tab that
i can think of is if you could high to kolob. other then that just
anything.
sound like everything at home is going good. i really wish that they
had 4th of july here. i missed it a lot. but not to much more time
until i get to be their again.
well i dont have much more to write so i guress i will go. but i love
you guys!!! talk to you later.

hey mom,
its sounds like everything is just moving along at home and that
everything is going good. besideds the whole country thing but not to
much we can do their.
Jaren went on a date holy cow!!! my little bros all grown up! so who
did he go with and how and how did it go? im glad that jaren is
staying busy. its a lot more fun then just sitting at home all the
time.
so your planning on putting something in town. thats cool. sorry that
you didnt receive enough to build something there yet. it would be
really cool if i came home to a new house! i got a letter from the
whitings today. i guess they moved too if you didnt already know. they
moved into the villages.
its crazy how much stuff happens when your gone for two years. it
seems like everyone is going to be married by the time that i get
home. either married or on a mission.
so for africa... this saturday we are having a baptism. one is sandra
our recent convert sabinas daughter. then we are a baptizing christian
and emmanuel the two that me and elder oseghe felt were waiting for us
at the church. they are awesomely powerful guys. they will become
great future leaders. and then we are baptizing another man named
adams. we have been teaching him for a little while now. he had a
drinking and a chastity problem but now hes prepared. so were hopping
for a great baptism this week.
so the only thing new is that on sunday the mission officially split
and we are suposed to get new chips in our phones but we havent yet
and they turned off all of the phones in the mission right now. so
right now we arnt able to call our investigators or our leaders or
anyone so were just kinda free riding right now.
me and my companion are still having problems. he thinks that i am his
personal bank and keeps asking me to pay for things for him. but thats
not going to happen. he still thinks that im going to do everything
that he wants to do jst because hes senior companion. but no im not
going to go watch the euro football cup finals. no matter how bad i
want to deep inside. i still have another six weeks with him. we foun
out that this transfer is going to be 9 weeks instead of 6 weeks. and
then we will have a 3 week transfer after that so its going to be a
really long transfer. im excited;/
but everything is going. im still having fun. i still have a sweet
apartment so its all good. but i will tell you my list. but i dont
need anything right away its just stuff i'll need in the coming
months. but i need
-stamps
-sticky notes
-colored pencils
-(i got a guitar) my picks
-the clamp that goes around the neck of my guitar (capo)
the picks should be in my guitar case pocket with my capo but if
the're not dont worry about them
but yeah thats all that i can think of thats going on right now. so i
guess that i will talk to you later. i love you guys!!!

hey mom,
so things are better this week. this week went by a lot faster then i thought it was. me and my companion have fixed some things and are working on others. he now knows that we are going to work together and that we are keeping my investigators. haha and im learning to deal with him. yes my mission is going well. i still am loving my mission even with all of the things that are happening.
so this week was ok. we had a sweet lesson with one of my investigators named alex on friday. we were teaching him about repentance and the holy ghost and it was powerful. it was the first lesson that me and my companion really taught together. we have have tried to get alex to commit to a baptismal date but he hasnt accepted yet. but i think we are close.
so yeah our baptism didnt go through last week we pushed it to the 7th of july. the ones that were going to be baptized wernt ready yet so we pushed it back.
the mission gets split offically on july 1st. i wish that i was going up to kumasi though. my son francom is still in kumasi so i wont get to see him until we get home. but cape coast will still be a cool mission.
haha! my shoes dont smell to bad. you can tell me how they smell when i get home. my shoes are still going strong. i think that they will at least last me maybe 18 months. im just going to run them into the ground. the only thing is that the inside sole of the shoes are kinda falling apart but the will be good for a while. i will where my shoes home so that you can see them;)
i was just wondering if ryan had gotten out of the mtc yet. but yeah it will be really cool to see how different our missions are. i bet that he was a whole lot more shell shocked then me. i bet its a lot different.
im glad that everyone is doing good. how is jaren doing with subway. does he like it? how often does he work? kadyn and carsen are just enjoying the summer. how is work for you and dad. anything exciting happening?
i have a small list of things i need but i left it at home. all i can remember is stamps.
so i cant think of anything else to write so i guess that i will talk to you next week. say hi to everyone! i love you!!!

Email from June 18

hey mom!
AAAAHHHHH!!! i have started this email three different times and the
power keeps going out! your lucky that i love you very very much.
soooooo yeah i got a new companion. haha i murdered his name in the
last email but its elder inheakeri. HA were getting along great! it
hasnt even been a week and oh my gosh!!! $*&!^* ^^^ the lord
and president really want to drive that patience thing into me. my
companion really likes to let you know who is the senior companion and
who the junior companion (even though hes only 1 transfer ahead of
me). haha i think prez wants both of us to learn the lessens that we
need to learn. for me its that christ like attribute that we call
patience and for him it humility. my companion had a fun week of
teaching my investigators and deciding what they need and excluding me
from it. haha im not going to sit and be bossed and drug around. we
are a companionship. we help make decisions together, we teach
together, and we work together in every way. but yeah its going to be
a fun six weeks or more. my week was fun and im planning on a better
one this week=)
haha you spent a night in ghana didnt you! it kinda sounds like what
been happening here. the power goes out about 3 times a week from
around 5pm to midnight. but ive gotten used to it for the most part.
the night arnt to hot right now so i dont have a problem sleeping.
hey jaren PLEASE keep you grades up!!! i love hearing about how your
doing dont get mom and dad mad at you! just do your work. NIKE: JUST
DO IT!
haha kadyns going to grow up like you. the next pro volleyball player.
thats cool. im glad that she likes it.
hahaha yeah dad told me. but im sad i was really really really hoping
that you would give it to me. haha NOT! i hated that .... that THING
also.
Go Jennie! thats awesome. i hope that everything goes well with them.
how do you think octavio will take the lessons?
i do appreciate jessica. she has changed a lot since i left. or what
ive seen from her emails. and i tell her that. others have written to
me though. i get letters from brandon and tylene and kylie. ryan was
sending some before he left. haha i guess you find out who your real
friends are when you go on you mission.
i got you package with the jerky. THANK YOU! it was great.
ok well i guess i'll go. talk to you next week. i love you!!!

Email from June 11

Hey mom,
yeah last week was pretty cool and this week was about the same. we
had our baptism but only sabina the mom got baptized the daughter got
scared and wouldnt even come with us to the baptism. so we said ok and
decided to wait untill she was ready. we are talking with her and
getting her more comfortable.
so transfers. yes your right im not leaving but my companion is. hes
becoming the zone leader in abura zone. prez. was just bringing him to
the area. so im getting a new comp. on wed. his name is elder hickory
from nigeria. so lets see how it goes. this transfer has blown by its
crazy i dont remember half the transfer. maybe i should write in my
journal. your right. but even if my next companion is bad i dont care
im still working . im not stopping.
tell ambria hello next time you see her.
i got a letter from eben a little while ago. he sounds like hes doing
great. haha it sounds like a totally different mission.
haha i have nothing else either. i cant think of anything else. im
just excited for this next transfer to begin. im ready to do some
work!
i guess i will talk to you later. thanks for the package. i love you!!!

Email from June 4

hey mom,
yeah its been 10 months tomorrow since i left. thats crazy!!! it still doesnt feel like its been that long. i like it that way;)
so this week was pretty cool. zone confrence was really awesome! prez shulz taught us about the godhead. he opened it up a lot. we already new a lot of it but he put things in a different light. the other zone leaders also had some good stuff. i the church is coming up with a new way to get referrals from members and were testing it out. it seems to be working great. we got 4 yesterday.
church was cool yesterday. we had 10 investigators at church!!! it was amazing. we also gave that kid christian a baptismal date yesterday. he is really excited about church. he already wants to serve a mission.
we have a baptism this Saturday and in 2 weeks on the 23rd. im super excited. i just hope that i dont get transferred. transfers are this Saturday. holy cow! it seems like that was just last week!
but my week was sweet. i got jennies letter and a letter from the sunday school tell them both thank you! i dont think i thanked you for the last package but thank you!!! the pictures were great! i loved them.
YES!!!!!! Jaren got a job!!! dude work hard and make it fun. sometimes it wont be but make it fun.
the trailer is a nice summer home. when were you planning your glenn trip again? was it july?
i thank you mom. you and dad are the best. no one has better parents then i do. you have made me the person i am today and i could never thank you enough. you made me strong and my mission will make me forever strong. i love my family!
well i guess i'll go. have a fun week. love you!

Email from May 28th

hey mom,
yeppi!!! schools over! i bet its a relief. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KADYBUG!!!!!
wish i could be there.
im sorry to hear about troy. i would have never guessed that something
like that would have happened. pleas tell jaren to tell steven that im
sorry and that im keeping him and his family in my prayers. thats not
something that his family should have to deal with.
jaren had a interview? how does he think it went? i hope he gets something.
haha yeah thanks for the food discription. something nice to dream about;)
what happend to the tire? did it just explode or did it wear out? haha
that always makes for a nice trip.
so this week went by so fast. this month went by so fast! this was
probably the fastest month of my mission so far. but we have been
working really hard the last few weeks. we have 2 wityh a bap. date
and 1 more is coming. ummm......no i didnt sorry! but we had a cool
experience this week. we were getting ready for church this sunday.
and me and oseghe had the same feeling that their was someone that was
waiting for us at church. we thought it might have been the prez. or
the office couple. so we were hurrying trying to get to church and
when we got there their was some one waiting. his name is christian.
he had heard of the couch before and wanted to come but his family
wouldnt let him. he had met the missionary's on the street before and
they invited him but he didnt come. so he waited about 6 months and he
came yesterday. hes a really cool kid and weve met with him once
already so we'll see where it goes. but thats all i  remember for this
week. but this week we have zone conf. so we might learn some cool
stuff so i'll keep you updated.
we'll thats about it. but i do need somethings that i thought about. i
need AAA batteries they have batteries here but my fglash light sucks
them dry in just a few hours and im using it as my bike light so i
need more. it would also be cool if i could get a ton of gatoraid or
crystal light mixes but i think thats about it.
tell jennie thank you for the email when i get her letter i will
wrtite her. i promise! well i guess i better go. i love you!!!

So good to talk to everyone at home

hey mom,
yeah i really like talking over the phone. i feel like i know whats
really going on. if only we were able to talk more often.
i'll take more pictures. im doing better i'll send home another card
in a few months.
well this week was a blur. i dont remember very much. we did a lot of
service projects last week. we helped one of our members weed her
yard. and we helped another member pound palm nuts to make palm oil.
its raind pretty hard the last few days. we got back from cape coast
and we had just gotten back from the apartment and it just unloaded.
it rained all night. it was nice but something really cool happened
this week. we were looking through our area book. its a book of
records with our investigators and former investigators and everyone
that has been baptized. but we decided to take a look through it and
found a former investigator by the name of kweku . it said that he had
traveled and no one had seen him. but we decided to go to his house
and see if he had come back. so we went and guess what he was there.
he had actually gotten home from his trip to the volta region a few
hours before we got there. it was pretty sweet. hes an older man about
72 but weve started to teach him again and its going well. it was a
cool experience.
sounds like everyone is doing good. jaren get it into gear man! do
something please i want to see you graduate. wow graduation is this
week thats crazy. i'll be a year out of high school soon. CRAZY!!!
hahaha!!! ruthie! no i havent received her package yet. it will get
her it will just take forever to get here. i will have to wait untill
transfers. thats when the aps will pick everything up.
yeah jennie sounded really surprised when i called. i was glad that i
got to talk to her too.
haha the fitness/dieting thing is doing great. maybe i'll take a
picture and send it to you;) my little stomach thing is going away and
my six pack is coming in nicely. if i do this till the end of my
mission then i will come home ripped.
well i got nothing else. i glad that eveything at home is doing ok and
i will talk to you later. LOVE YOU!!!

Trying to play catch up

 hey mom,
hey so sorry for not sending anything earlier we have had some problems getting into a cafe. the one that we usually go to is closed so we've been trying to find another. but i cant wait until this sunday. im so excited. 8 should be a good time to call we wont have anything by that time so it should be fine. i bet home looks great right now. i miss green. their is some green but we dont see enough of it. its always so dusty and the seasons dont look any different. but its only for a short time.
so life with a new companion is sweet! his name is elder oseghe. we've been doing really good we are working hard and are having fun. we get along great together. were just looking for  new investigators and are trying to play catch up with the others. but everything is great.
schools almost over! haha i still get excited. its really good to think of mission in school years. jaren will go back to school. thats cool. do you think that doing the home school helped him at all. dont force him to hard to find out what he wants. i didnt know what i was doing my sophmore year either even with all those career prep classes. im still trying to figure it out. but a mission does help. it helps you figure out what you really want in life the little things that will make you happy. the things that we learn will influence every decision that we make. it will be fun to figure out what im doing when i get home.
wow there making a lot of changes arnt they. changing high school schedule. closing a school. 4 day weeks. that would be nice though you can do a lot more things as a family.
i got your package with the spices in it thank you! tell carsen thank you for the letter also. it was great.
well i have nothing else really. i gotta save some stuff for the call home. so i'll go now and talk to you in a few days. i love you!!!
love,
Trevin

No Transfer, but I did get a new Companion

hey mom,
so guess what?.......in staying with kebbie......just kiding no im
not. i am staying in mankessim and im getting a new comp. his name is
elder osegey im not sure on the spelling but something like that. yes
another african but i have heard a lot of good things about him hes
from nigeria but hes a really hard worker and a very obedient
missionary. im soooo excited i want to do some real work sooooooooooo
bad. it sounds like we will get along real well together. and i will
be in the apartment while elder martin is training so we will have a
lot of fun.
hey! go kadyn and carsen! congrats they did really good then huh? we
dont need to win everything but it is nice to win something and a god
medal is a good something. hey i wish i was there for dads solo i want
to watch him sing something instead of me. wow! 3 weeks left that
scrazy this school year has gone by fast. if only i was in school and
it went by so fast. how is he doing grade wise?
we arnt able to go to the mission home for FHE. its an hour drive and
it costs to much they wont pay for us to go but its ok we dont have
many people to go anyway.
wow thats way cool to hear about jennie. the stake prez wants to teach
them personally thats so awesome. i hope that everything goes well.
tell her that im proud of her. shes doing well.
haha yeah im not planning on putting anymore into the computers here.
but the card that i sent should read and have pictures on it. we
checked elder randalls. his did the same thing but you can see the
pics. thank you for the packages. i should be getting one tomorrow.
elder rogers said that he saw one sitting in the mission home so i
should get it tomorrow. haha 9 months have flown by. me and elder
martin are amazed. our 9 months is on the 5 so we want to do something
special.
2 weeks till the call home! 7 should be fine. i'm sure we wont plan
much for that evening.
ok well i guess i will go now. i love you!!!
love,

Can't wait till Transfers

hey mom,
haha yeah i know what you mean about the disappering email thing i do
that a lot. sorry about the show. was it just not exciting like all of
his other shows? im glad that jaren and the others were ok. haha did
they get along ok?
hey i wish i could help carsen with his pinewood car. he would
definetly win. tell him good luck!
sooooo im doing good. i can not wait until transfers. we get the news
this sat. so i will know if i am staying with kebbie or i get a new
companion and i will find out which mission i will be staying in.
ummm right now the teaching is really slow. me and kebbie cant work
together. we go to our lessons and dont do much else. he will go to
the lessons that we have planned and will do nothing else. i cant
contact people because we cant teach people. the people that we do
have right now arnt moving anywhere. we had a goal of 1 baptism for
the last 6 weeks and we have no one ready. i dont know what to do
anymore. i am praying for a relief. kebbie has been out for 14 months
and hes been in mankessim for  6 months. every companion that he has
had has lost it on him. im not going to freak but im soooo close.
i havent received her package yet. ive been hoping to get it for the
past few weeks but...nothing. i might have gotten lost.
how do jennies kids like church? do they have fun or are they not
excited? like most teenagers. that would be awesome if they would come
into the church. i love her family.
ummmm...nothing new really. ohhh i sent my pictuers home today but i
think we might have a problem. iwe went to a members house on sunday
and hes really good with computers so he took the virus of my chip.
but then i went home and tried to check out the card in my camera and
it said no picturs were on it. so i might of sent home an empty chip.
but if it looks empty click on view and go to show hidden files and
they might show up but i dont know. we'll just have to wait and see.
that chip has all of my pictures on it. i have a back up but it doesnt
have the pics from the castle or the beach.
well i have nothing else so i guess i'll go. i love you! pray for me i need it.
love,
Trevin

Easter

hey mom,
easter wasnt as exciting as it is at home but it was cool. at church
we had tons! of people. the chapel is an old school building and we
have sacrament up stairs in the biggest room of the school. the room
was filled to exploding point. we had to push the sacrament table back
and put folding chairs in its place. we emptied the upper floors class
rooms of chairs and put them on the balcony outside of the chapel. it
as crazy. i had to stand for sacrament. haha but its only like that if
its a big holiday. most sundays it gets full but not like that.
yeah we had a really low key easter too. i had finished my peeps a few
days before and all we had was a bottle of sparkling cider that elder
randell got for his birthday. but it was a nice easter we had a
morning devotional in our apartment before church so it was good.
wow thats amazing to here about rance. i didnt know if they were going
to let him out or not. i hope hes done some real thinking. how is he
now? does dad think that hes changed?
haha landons lucky. elder randell wants to know where david is going
really bad. i'll make sure to tell him that bit of info. when does
landon get out of the mtc? and can you find out what mission hes going
into?
maybe mitchell is suck for a reason. maybe the lord wants him to do
something while hes their.
ive talked to ryan a couple of times and hes going to provo and then
going to mozambique. they dont have a language program in south africa
so he get to stay in the states for 3 months. tell him that i said
good luck and keep smiling.
holy cow i cant believe that the school year is almost over. it seems
like i just left and school just started. i just turned 8 months. it
seems like a week ago we were talking about 7 months. 4 more months
and im a year. and its all down hill from their. mission is exciting.
i want it to go by fast but i dont at the same time. i hope that it
will slow down when i go home. i dont want life to pass like this.
well i am doing great! mission is going good. its hard with a
companion that is slowing down though. im having a hard time getting
him out the door in the morning but once hes out its ok from their. i
am praying that something will change next transfer. i want a
companion that wants to go out im tired of pushing someone. next
transfer will be another big one though its the last one before
mission splits. im excited for that.
for spices anything that is good smelling and tasting. i dont know to
many spices. but im good on the cinnamon, garlic salt and pepper.
garlic salt was genius though. im good on maple flavoring. i slowed
down on my french toast craving so i dont use as much syrup. and the
bottle that grandma sent will last a long time. ummm...if you could
send a couple of hand towels like the nicolls gave me it would be
great. im good on body wash and deodorant. i only use the body wash on
my hair and if the the powers out and i need to take a bucket shower.
its easier to wash with then a bar. i cant think of anything else now.
haha i got the mud out of my shirt. ive gotten very good at hand
washing so no stains. my pants are doing ok. ive got 4 out of 5 left.
one pair got torn. haha and my shoes are doing great. i think they can
last me 18 months i'll push them. their only worn out on my back heal
where i drag them a little. ive been walking better trying to keep
them good.
i havent gotten ruthies package yet but im hoping to get it tomorrow
at distric meeting.
i'll make sure to read the story again. and if you like mary magdalen
then if you can get a hold of a jesus the christ book go to the
chapter about her. its either under her name or christs resurrection.
i cant remember. its really cool. it will tell you why he went to mary
even before he went to his father.
well i guess ill go. i love you!!! talk to you next week bye-bye!

I fell in the Mud and Caked my backside!

hey mom,
haha i bet its nice to have a spring break. i wish that we had a spring break.
we had district meeting today and prez and sis shulz were their and i
was giving the instruction! haha scary stuff. but they talked about
general conf. and said that it was really good. i wish that we could
watch it so bad. i guess we will have the disc for next sunday so we
will get to see part of it.
i am doing great. nothing to exciting going on rigth now. were still
seeing agnes. were just trying to push a long. its hard to get in to
see her. me and kebbie well.....its going. im trying. haha i think
about the way i delt with some of the things at home and ohhh boy ive
changed. i still get angry but i keep it in a lot better.
nothing to exciting happened this week. just doing the work. we had
the zone leaders come on splits with us this week. haha elder gibson
was with me kebbie. gibson is going home at the end of the month and
hes soooo dead. hes already at home. i hope that that doesnt happen to
me. hahahah and i also fell in the mud that morning. i caked my back
and my butt and got my scripture bag. my stuff is ok. haha and it was
fun walking home and having everyone stare at me.
so i got the peeps!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!! they were AWESOME!!! they
were a little squished but they were still good. and they stayed
fresh. the package came really fast i was amazed when they handed me a
package. when you send the pictures could you send me more spices. i
still have the stuff you sent. but i need some more stuff to cook
with.
haha i met the other adair. hes was alright...a little weird but hes
ok. but ive got nothing else for you. so i guess that i will talk to
you later. i love you!

Emails from 2nd half of March - I did not Edit his typing skills

March 20

hay mom,
sorry the internet cafe was on the fritz yesterday. haha no i didnt
wear green. i dont have any green to wear. haha and i forgot about the
holiday. we dont have any calenders so i dont really remember the
holidays to much. so if i dont remember mothers day and you dont get a
call i'll make sure that i call sometime that week.;) just kidding.
dad got the job. sweet! what else does he have to do now? how is your
job going? man! snow sounds awesome right now. its been hot lately.
but its coming to rainy season so it will be really nice. i love when
it rains here. feels a little more like home.
so this week was great. we started to teach this lady named agnus and
2 of her kids. we had a hard time meeting with her for a few days but
once we did it was awesome. we have taught her about the restoration
and the book of mormon  and we asked her to pray about it. the next
day she had a powerful testimony about both. and she came to church.
shes awesome. haha in one of our lessons with her she pulled out this
really really old book of mormon. i guess her husband had been taught
before and he gave her the book of mormon it was pretty cool. i havent
heard anything about where we will be yet. i heared that we will be
told next transfer. so in another 6 weeks. im excited though. i really
want to go back to kumasi before it splits. cape coast is sweet but i
like kumasi better. haha so when is mothers day

March 26

haha yeah the power and everything is really bad over here. in kumasi
it wasnt so bad but here the power goes out almost every other night
or the cafes internet is down. but i will get the email out
eventually.
thank you for the peeps. i cant wait for them. tell ruthie THANK YOU!
everything at home sounds sweet. everyone is having fun. i am really
looking forward to coming home and seeing everyone doing their things.
jarens senior year, kadyns and carsens gymnastics and sports. it will
be awesome!!! at least jaren is getting to play something. and yeah i
know the coach. isnt he in our ward? he sounded like he was going to
be pretty awesome. i guess i was wrong.
right now nothing to exciting is happening here. i am learning the
meaning of patience with kebbie though. i dont know what to do. he has
some very weird ideas and thinks in the exact opposite way of me. its
hard to agree with anything. its getting harder! im so glad put me
with 2 other americans. i would have went crazy if i was by myself.
haha elder martin is ok. yeah hes still weird. but i can handle a
little weird. we do like a few of the same things like books and
movies so their isnt just silence in the apartment.
sis agnes is pretty sweet. i hope we can go somewhere with her.
hopefully to baptism.
so today we went to the castle. pretty cool. i got a lot of pictures
and learned a lot. and i talked to the zone leaders and they said that
in 5 weeks when we get the call for transfers and if we get moved
thats where were staying. so if i stay in mankissem im staying in cape
coast. so the countdown is 5 weeks!
well cool then. i dont have anything else. haha oh wait i did get sick
last week. when elder hunt was leaving we ate at a lot of members
houses and we had 2 on sunday. the first lady gave us a huge dinner
plate of rice. you know how small my stomach is. but then we wqent to
her sisters house and we werent even supposed to eat there but she
made us and i was like ohhhhhhh noooooooo im gonna die. and she also
brought out a huge plate of rice. i got like halfway through andi
couldnt do it anymore i was sick. but we went home and i started
throwing up. and then i went to bed and and woke up in the night then
threw up all over our floor. so i mopped it up at 1 in the morning.
but now im all good my stomach is empty and i feel a lot better then
ive been in ghana. but thats my fun for the week.
so ill talk to you later and well see what else happens here. love you!!!
love,
Trevin

March 5

hey mom,
what no email this week? are you forgetting about me?!?! haha just kidding. hope everything is good at home. and your having fun.
so this week has been pretty good. we had a lot of appointments this week and a baptism. sorry forgot to say anything. it was a baptism that was scheduled before i came so its someone that i didnt teach. but hes an awesome guy. his name is isaac lartie. he'll be a sweet member. we have found a few serious people that want to learn so we are working with them. the most serious one is giddion. hes about 22 and he understands a lot. but Jehovah's Witness has been meeting with him a lot also. so hes really confused and likes to argue about stupid stuff. but we'll see where it goes. me and kebbi are doing good we've ben able to talk a lot more and were working better together. its been fun and the last 4 weeks have passed like nothing. haha now im 7 months. only a year and 5 months to go. thats easy. this will go by like nothing. it amazing how fast everything is moving.
hey guess what me and elder hunt are pretty much profesinal cooks now. we made re-fried beans and tortillas the other day. they are soooooo good almost as good as home. we also found out how to make ice cream and scones so were enjoying.
well i got nothing else. hope you have fun this week. love you!

March 12

 hey mom,
haha how could you forge about me!?!? haha just kidding its ok i didnt
have much last week to tell so its all good.
so home sounds crazy right now. basketball and baseball and scouts.
wow! sounds like fun. how are kadyn and carsen doing with it? has
jaren played any games yet? did dad find anything more out about his
job stuff?
haha yeah i love the food that were cooking. its awesome to eat some
thing thats actually enjoyable. ha but i dont know how much i've
really changed. we'll see. culinary school? ummm....maybe. i've been
thinking about what i want to do when i get home. i have no clue. and
probaly wont untill i get home. haha Easter yay!!! PEEPS!!! YAY!!!
that would be awesome!!! and yeah you promised me pictures. where are
they! haha i wana see home. everything. i want family trips, lake,
snow trips, jake, house, stuff you guys have done. EVERYTHING!!! haha
but i think that should do it for now.
so me.... this week was good. we taught a lot of lessons. we are
picking up some more serious people. its nice. we had a problem for a
couple of day where our investigators were having a lot of doubts but
we worked through most of them. i hope we helped them. the last six
weeks have gone by like nothing and its crazy. transfers are coming up
again but i dont think that im going anywhere. i think me and kebbi
will stay. kebbi is doing good. were teaching good together. were able
to teach better as a companionship now. we still have our little
problems but we are working through them.
im glad that jaren wrote to me. i've been thinking about that a lot. i
dont like what i did. i hate it. and i think the reason why jaren
thinks that is my fault. he has plenty of friends. its better to have
a few great friends that like you for who you are then to surround
yourself with people  that dont care about you personally. i was
friend with most everyone but the ones i loved are the ones i knew the
best and hung out the most with. tell jaren i love him again. and
kadyn. and carsen.
haha guess what i forgot to tell you. i finished the old testament a
couple of weeks ago. yeah genesis to malachi. sweet huh? freak a lot
of work. but i remember reading the story of moses. every time mose
went to the pharaoh its says that the pharaoh hardened his heart. so i
was thinking about that and i thought of just that. dont shut it out
right away. but take the time to consider it and to pray. without that
were all stiff necked little buggers that wont be able to accept
anything. its a great story.
so i gues i better go. talk to you later. i love you all!!! keep smiling.

Power out again!!

Hey Mom,
So power has been out again. I guess that they are having problems with
their dam. The water in Lake Volta is evaporating fast so they are
conserving water by not running the dam.  The week was less exciting.
and we didn't find anything out about the guy on the bike. But the fufu
was great!
I got Grandma Kathy's package and Grandma and Grandpa's letter. Tell
them thank you. I'll write back soon.
So me and Kebbi are doing better. I can get him to talk if I find the
right subject. We are able to teach a lot better now too . At first he
would go off on some weird things but weve worked it out and now we're
working together a lot better.
Man Jeff! Hawaii! He got really lucky. And were going to have tons of
missionaries out. It's going to be sweet. I'll get to come home and see
tons of people come back. That will be awesome.
So the area 70  thing was pretty sweet. I didn't get an interview but he was
cool. He talked a lot about getting out and talking to people.
Something that I still need to work on a little. ummm... I can't
remember last week at all. Sorry their has been to many big things in
between. I cant think that far. Sorry. But it will be better this
week.
Soooo im going to stop here and send this before the power goes out
again. But I love you and I'll talk to you next week.

Crazy week in Mankessim

Hey Mom,
Yep 6 months! I'm almost done!!! Haha  it's going by faster then I
thought that it would sooooo itll be over in no time! So sorry I
haven't written the power was out in Mankessim until yesterday evening
and we came to email and it went out again half way through this
email. so now I'm back sorry.
So Elder Kebbi doesn't talk much. I try to get him to talk so most of
the time its pretty quiet. I know he's the youngest of three. They
spoke a kinda weird language in his part of of the country. And he
loves rice and plantain. Everyday rice and plantain. But thats all I
really know. but its not to bad. We get along good and don't have any
problems. Our branch is bigger. Its big enough to become a ward but
they are kinda having problems paying tithing right now so they have to
wait. Right now we don't have hardly any investigators. The missionary
that Kebbi was with before me didn't want to work at all. So we go out
and contact everyday. I'm just trying to get some people together to
teach. We've found some so were doing ok right now. It's hard and its
not very fun but I'll get through it.
So this week has been pretty crazy. A lot of things happened this
week. First on tuesday we had district meeting, and half way through
district meeting Kebbi remembered that he had left the stove on while
cooking some yam. Haha our district meetings are an hour away. The
yams in the pot had started fire. But someone broke through our back
door and put it out. Kebbi has to pay for a new door. So our apartment
almost burnt down this week. Then friday we gave an investigator a
baptismal date. His name is Isaac. He has gone through a couple sets
of missionaries and a few baptismal dates. So well see if he comes
through for us. Then on Sunday.....this is the crazy story..... we
went to Salt Pond a village in our area. A member was cooking us a
meal so we went over. We were helping her cook and pounding fufu and
then outside her house we heard this crash. 2 guys on a motorcycle
had crashed outside her house. They lost control of the bike somehow
and had crashed in the gutter and had flipped out. So we went out the
gate to see if everyone was ok. They weren't. When they went into the
gutter their legs got caught in between the edge of the gutter and the
bike. It took one guys leg off and broke the other guys in three
different places. Everyone outside was standing there watching and
screaming but they weren't trying to help them at all. Me and Elder Hunt
wanted to go and help them but no one would let us get near them. So
we stopped a couple of taxis and they picked them up and went to the
hospital. It was crazy it didnt look real it was kinda like watching a
movie. Not being able to do anything but wanting to. But that was the
end of our crazy week. Haha Mankessim is the place that everything
happens. I'm going to have an exciting stay here.
I got both of your packages yesterday. Thank you!!! love you. They
were awesome. Haha and I said a knife like Jarens not Jarens. Hahaha
but thank you. Thanks Jaren! I also got my scriptures that I ordered
in December. They are sweet I'm glad I ordered them.
Cool I didnt know for sure if Micheal was still going. And thats a
crazy mission. Mandrin chinese speaking in Canada! What?!?!
Well I don't have anything else this week. I'm doing fine and the works
moving.....slowly....but its moving. So I'll talk to you on
monday.....or tueseday....we are having a mission tour with Prez.
Dixson of the area 70 on Monday so p day might be on Tuesday. But
thats it. I love you!!!

New Area New Companion

Hey Mom,
My new area is sweet! I love it. and my new companion is ok. He's not one of those jerk africans. We get along pretty well. He's from Sierra Leon. He doesn't talk much but thats ok. But he was really happy that I was his new companion. His old one was a weirdo jerk that wouldn't work. But I can get along with him fine.  So Mankessim is a lot bigger then Abuakwa! But I already like it more then Abuakwa. The people here are awesome so its cool.  I am starting to learn a new language. The people here they speak twi but their language is Fanti. But they are a lot alike they have a lot of the same words and the things that are just a little different. But its just different enough that its difficult to understand. The food isnt very different but they do eat more fish. But its usually good fresh fish not the dry salted one. But i like it. It was a 4 hour bus ride to cape coast but thats only because the roads are so bad. It would only take like 2 hours at home.
The concert sounded great. I hope you all had fun without me!!! haha just kiddin' haha long night. ha So story time in our apartment we have 2 other elders. Elder Hunt and Elder Randall.  Elder Hunt was my best friend from the MTC. We like a lot of the same things and we just get along good. We'll probably still be friends at home. But the 2nd day that I came to Mankessim we started talking and before we knew it it was 5 in the morning. Trust me we weren't planning on staying up all night but it just happened. The night flew by like no other. That was a long day. I will never stay up that long ever again!
I got jennies package today. Tell her THANK YOU!!!! Shes the best. I still haven't gotten your package but it should be here soon I think.
Jaren made varsity baseball! sweet!!! haha yeah I probably wouldnt like those coaches either but I would be so stoked to be playing varsity that I wouldn't care either.
So I've gott nothing else. I hope its all good at home.I love you and I'll talk to you next week. LOVE YOU!!!

I going to a new area

Hey mom,
Ok so I'm not staying in Abuakwa. I'm going down south to Cape Coast, to a town called Mankessim. and I'm getting an African companion. His name is Elder Tebi.  Prez. Shulz called me last night and told me a little bit about him. He's from Nigeria. Him and his last companion didnt get along so well thats why hes putting me with him. He thinks that I can help him out a lot. Haha but he said that I'm going to have to be patient with him. Haha I know that thats the reason God sent me to Ghana. to learn patience. haha I've already learned a lot but I've still got a lot of work. But Shulz also said that I'm going to be in an apartment with one of my buds from the mtc Elder Hunt and his trainee some one from the states. So I wont be all by myself. so I'm pretty happy it stinks leaving Abuakwa and saying bye to all my friends here but its exciting at the same time. Right now I'm just packing and trying to get stuff ready to go. II leave on wednesday.
haha thanks for looking that up. It didnt sound very legit. but I didnt know that about the polynesians. That's so cool.
I'm glad that dads foot is doing better. and everything is going fine at home. haha I dont know how Jaren does it either. That's to much for me. I'd have to take a break somewhere in there. Sweet, Kadyn and Carsen are playing basketball. wow I hope they have fun!
Grandma Kathy is awesome!!! I will make sure to send her a letter. haha Jessica. tell her Thank you again.
Wow i didnt know that Mitchell had left yet Markie told me he got his call. thats cool. I also know of a few others have gotten their calls. Callen Burnham is going to Alaska. Colten Edwards is going to Salt Lake. Colten ahhh cant remember last name. Kylers little brother is going to Argentina. So pretty soon everyone is going to be gone. Hey have you heard anything about Micheal Cimincki. last I heard he wasnt planning on going.
Man I wish I could see Mo. Tab. I love them now. That will be a cool concert.
So not much else. Just a lot of change but change is good. So i'll talk to ya next week. I love you!!!

News of the week

Hey mom,
Hahaha!!! hey the monkeys are awesome! of course I'm going to feed it! haha but I wont do it again.:( haha I guess I wont tell you about some of the other things I've done;)
OH MY GOSH!!! Mozambique Portuguese speaking!!! Jeez that's crazy, haha thats 10x cooler then Ghana. Tell Ryan congrats and I hope he has fun. Man what is this Chantz to the Philippines and Landon to Japan.   They're sending people everywhere! Oh i cant wait to talk to these guys when they get home. That's awesome.
Haha man everything happens after I leave. Randy is the bishop wow! I didnt see that one comming. that's so cool. I get to come home to a new bishop.
I'm glad that dad's foot isn't broken and its just an infection. I hope it heals fast. Sorry dad!
ummm... tell Jessica thanks. and I got a package from Jennie for Christmas it had her mormon tabernacle in it and candy canes. If that's the one. Tell her thank you shes the best! and thank you too. Your keeping me alive.
Soooo this week was great. Haha guess what!?! I'm going to be a Grandfather!!! Elder Francom got a call from Prez. Shulz to be a trainer. So now my kids going to have a baby boy! Haha its crazy it feels like I've been with Elder Francom for a shorter time then when I was with Mortensen, and now hes training and i..........still dont know what I'm doing. We've been trying to figure it out but their are too many possibilities.  But I'll find out on Sat. This week has been a busy week we had interviews with President Shulz.  Francom had to go to a trainers meeting and I got to go on splits with Asyabwua. So its been good. Haha do you emember Kennedy? Well he came to church on sunday. He asked us where we have been. I asked him the same question. But we went and met with him and he said that he wanted us to teach him again. So we'll see where it goes.
Ok I've got an assignment for you. k, so we were on splits with out zone leaders and we were with Elder Hernandez. and we were talking and we got into a discussion on other possible scripture and he started talking about this book called the record of Hagoth that professors are supposedly translating. It sounds pretty legit. so I was wondering if you could find out a little bit about it.
and some thing else were making a mission cook book. I need recipies that I can use to enter into it. We get prizes for the best recipies. so I need recipies that I can make here with very little things. So this is what we have we have vegitables we can make no bake cookies we have a little fruit. Ask dad for ingedients its about the same stuff.
But other then that this week has been pretty cool. I miss you all and love you tons!!!

Email update from 1/22/2012

Hey Mom,
You're welcome. I'm still trying to find a p day to get to town and send my card. Yeah that's Kumasi. Haha but that's not what it looks like in town. It's crazy in town! and yeah thats at the baptism. We had a lot of our members show up.
Yeah the Bear creek soup is awesome. It tastes so good. Send more of anything that you think I will like. Cheddar broccoli sounds great.
The mission splitting is awesome. I hope that I stay in Kumasi. I want to say that I spent half my mission in Cape Coast mission and half in Kumasi mission.
Our week was ok. It was a slow week and right now were going out trying to find new people. So its a lot of just walking around talking to people. Tell Grandma Joanne and Grandma Kathy thank you and that i love them. I got grandma Kathy's package it was nice. and I've already made both packages of brownies they were sooooo good!
Haha sorry dad. Tell me what's going on and what happened.
Well its been a fast week with nothing much happening. I don't know what else to say. Tell me where Ryan is going when he gets his mission call. I think he's going to Argentina. Just a guess. But thats it. i love you!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Baptism was Sweet!

Hey Mom,
Haha yeah this week has gone by so fast its crazy. I hope that it keeps
moving like this. Our baptism was sweet. We had three there. Leticia,
Prince, and Agnes who is Samsons wife. It went well everyone was their on time.
All except our Branch President. It was cool. Asyeabua had 1 too so we
ended up with 4.
Haha yeah were keeping busy walking. Last week wasn't a good week for
appointments but it was ok. It seems like every other week is a good week,
we can never have two good weeks in a row. But it went by fast and was over
fast so it was a good week. ummm...right now were only teaching 1 family
and we've only met with them once so far. We met this kid named Prince
young and we went to go see him and his family was interested so we are
going to start teaching the whole family. There is 4 in his family so its
pretty cool.
Haha while your trudging through the snow  I'm running through the heat trying
to get to rainy season. right now it been really hot during the day. but at
night its freezing. I love that blanket that I brought. So the nights are
sweet but the days are miserable. But rainy season is coming its supposed
to start at the end of Febuary. I can't wait. It needs to rain so bad.
Everything is sooooo dusty. On our way to town today while we were in the
car our shirts got so dirty. They are tearing up the road on the way to
town so its really really really bad. My shirts are going to turn brown.
I haven't gotten Grandma kathy's package yet. I got her letter but not the package.
and I will make sure to send another letter to Grandma Sandy.
ummm..Right now I don't know whats happening. I don't know anything about if
im being transferred or what. I could stay. I could leave, I could stay with
Francom or I could get a new companion. We won't know untill Feb. 4th that's
when we wil get the call because transfers are on the 8th. But what I do
know is......get ready this is exciting.....in July the mission is
splitting!!! They are making a Kumasi mission. so they will split Cape
Coast in 2. So I might be in a new mission. If I stay in Kumasi I will be
in the Kumasi mission but if i go down to Cape Coast then I will stay. so
its pretty cool!
soooo thats all i got for this week. i love you!!!

Happy New Year!

Hey Mom!
Its 2012! Hey guess what Christ is coming! haha just kidding!
Christmas was awesome! That was probably the best Christmas present ever. I loved talking to everyone. I can't wait for Mothers day.
Haha yeah I remember Sis. Berry. Me and Elder Francom were walking down the street and she started yelling out of her truck. I thought she was one of the white hippies that we see around. She was really cool and her family is sweet. We talked for a little bit and then she took our numbers and said that she would call our moms. Haha that's you! haha calm? relaxed? confident? That's cool that she saw that much. Haha and Elder Francom was still shell shocked. He was so amazed that we got to talk to some obruni members in Africa. And yeah they have a shell gas station in Abuakwa with a lot of American food. It's just really expensive. So we dont go in there too often.
So the week has still been slow. They love New Years here. They have all night devotionals at their churches and they go crazy! But no fireworks;( So everyone is still on vacation and today was a holiday so it was quiet in town. No one works on holidays here. We're hoping that it picks up this week though, everyone will be going back to school and family is leaving so we will be able to see people! but now we have 7 people we are going to baptize on the 15th. Abuakwa and Asyeabua are doing a combine baptism so 4 companionships and our goal is twenty people. We all have the people they just need to be baptized.
I don't remember being in any pictures. The last one in on the activity was elder Aghama.....an african......ummm I dont think I'm that dark yet:!
hey!.........so I asked for a snowboard every Christmas since I was 5 and Carsen gets one now? what!!! haha just kidding. thats sweet. It'll be cool to come home and take him to Sunrise. Aahhhh fun in the snow. I want some pictures of that. Speaking of pictures. I tried to send them today but the stinkin' post office was closed! Another wasted trip to town.
Wait.... are you actually telling me that Jaren is reading? Christ is comming! Haha sweet keep it up Jaren! maybe you will graduate after all. ;)
Kadyn was quiet. She writes me more letters then anyone else and she doesn't talk to me on the phone? I love you kadybug,  PLEASE talk to me! But I'm glad that she likes the books. Those are some of my favorite. All of them are good though.
So I guess I'll go. I love you and miss you tons!!!  I'll see you in 19 months;)
Love,
Trevin
